Steve is a technology entrepreneur, product builder, and internet business veteran with more than 30 years of experience building web, e-commerce, hosting, cloud, software, and AI-powered platforms.
Steve began working with internet technologies in the early days of the commercial web and has helped create digital solutions for companies including the National Football League, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, and Microsoft. His work has evolved alongside the internet itself, spanning e-commerce, enterprise hosting, cloud infrastructure, payment systems, web platforms, mobile applications, cybersecurity, automation, artificial intelligence, and online business strategy.
In 1997, Steve left SAIC and founded Mallsoft Inc., a company focused on helping small and mid-sized businesses use the internet to grow. Mallsoft built InstaHost, an enterprise web hosting service, and InstaOrder, an e-commerce platform designed to work with a Microsoft .NET content management system. InstaHost was later acquired by EPHost, and Telerik Inc. acquired the InstaOrder e-commerce technology as part of its work on the next-generation Sitefinity CMS platform.
As internet infrastructure moved from traditional hosting into the cloud, Steve’s work expanded into cloud architecture, distributed systems, security, monitoring, data platforms, and infrastructure built on services such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft technologies. More recently, he has focused heavily on applied artificial intelligence, including AI-driven automation, intelligent workflows, data analysis, content systems, and software that uses large language models to understand intent and take practical action.
Steve’s career has always been centered on one idea: technology should make real-world work easier. He has built and led teams across corporate environments, startups, and founder-led companies, with a focus on practical execution, strong systems, emerging technologies, and products that solve real problems rather than simply demonstrating what technology can do.
Today, Steve is the founder of InstaEvent Inc. and creator of Hey Benson, an AI-powered social planning platform designed to help people turn conversations into coordinated plans. Hey Benson combines conversational AI, cloud infrastructure, real-time information, group preferences, and intelligent automation to help people move from “we should do something” to an actual plan. It reflects Steve’s long-running interest in using technology to reduce friction, connect people, and help ideas move from intention to action.
Beyond his work, Steve supports several nonprofit organizations, including Matters Athletic, Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home in El Paso, Texas, and Water For People, a nonprofit his father helped establish in the 1980s.
